Hans Friederich

Dr. Hans Friederich FRGS is a Dutch geographer with a PhD from the University of Bristol, UK. He is global ambassador of the World Bamboo Organisation and partner and senior advisor to BambooLogic in the Netherlands. He is involved in several research projects related to bamboo in Europe and the UK. Additionally, he is a member of the expert panel of the Life Terra Foundation, the IUCN World Commission on protected areas and the IUCN Commission on ecosystem management. Hans previously served as director general of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation and IUCN regional director for Europe. Throughout his career Hans had done extensive work to promote bamboo as a support for sustainable development, both in the global South and in Europe.
